Split
The town of Split is situated in Croatian side of Adriatic coast in central Dalmatia region. Split is the second largest city in Croatia, Croatia's second largest port and the third port on the Mediterranean by the number of passengers passing through. It’s also the administrative center of Split-Dalmatia County. The Lora harbor on the north side of the Marjan peninsula is the seat of the Croatian Navy.
Old city center - 1700 years old palace built by Roman Emperor Diocletian, son of god Jupiter is under UNESCO protection since 1979, and it’s unique in the world.
The squares, restaurants and coffee bars are crowded. The unavoidable promenade, Riva, is overwhelmed by refreshing wind Mistral in summer, while in winter Mediterranean sun and the Palace protect it from the cold. Split offers you its many charms; the pines of the Marjan forest in the western part of the peninsula, beautiful blue sea and the sound of the Dalmatian songs in the stone streets of the city.
Split Airport (codes LDSP SPU) is busy international airport that can accept any type of aircraft. Very well known lately is that there is no landing or departing slots available for General Aviation in Saturdays during summer period and in this case clients need change timings to late afternoon or to use alternative Zadar Airport (codes LDZD ZAD) or Dubrovnik Airport (codes LDDU DBV).
